Bank Square Books is locally owned, a "fiercely independent" bookstore located in downtown Mystic, CT.

Prior to the redesign, the Connecticut bookstore was using IndieBound to power their website, resulting in a cluttered site that was slow to load and difficult to get around. After seeing our redesign for RiverRun Bookstore, they turned to us for help.

We designed a fresh, user-friendly website to recommend books and connect with book lovers. The colorful design is packed with graphic details inspired by the store and the power of print, from book eared pages and torn notepaper to the bright yellow signs displayed in each section of the bookstore.

A powerful Drupal content management system makes it easy for staff to update the site, add book recommendations, post events, blog and share photos. Fans of Bank Square Books can also connect on Facebook or sign up to receive e-blasts.

The dynamic website was carefully setup to make it incredibly simple for staff to update and make changes. Photos and book jackets are automatically cropped to size when they are uploaded. And through a simple field all of the books featured on the site are seamlessly tied into a separate online store, powered by Baker & Taylor, making it easy for visitors to order books online.

The result is a highly workable, fast-loading, flexible website that captures the unique flair of the indie bookstore.
